Wednesday morning 11th and 12th graders attended the annual college fair in the Upper School gym. This gives Hillcrest students the opportunity to talk to representatives from community colleges, universities, private colleges, and armed services recruiters from all over the state. They can ask about fields of study, financial aid, taking campus tours, but best of all, they get to score some loot from their favorite schools.
See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at the flagpole in front of their school. More than twenty years later, millions have joined the movement and now pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday each September.
See You at the Pole™ is a rally which allows students to meet before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. SYATP brings students in every time zone all around the world together, as they humble themselves before God and commit to unity in Christ and prayer for their generation.
Hard to believe, but this is the eighth week of school already, and Upper School students will be taking first term exams next week. However, all juniors and seniors are also scheduled to take the ACT on Tuesday, October 3rd. As a result, we have had to make some adjustments to our usual exam schedule in order to accommodate all of our students. Please find the adjusted exam schedule as follows:
Monday, Oct. 2nd – 1st and 5th period exams
Tuesday, Oct. 3rd – 7th period exam (Juniors and Seniors will take the ACT all morning.)
Wednesday, Oct. 4th – 2nd and 4th period exams
Thursday, Oct. 5th – 3rd and 6th period exams
Friday, Oct. 6th and Monday, Oct. 9th are school holidays – Fall Break
Please remember that each day next week (Monday through Thursday) is a full, normal day of school. Nine weeks’ exams are given within a normal 50-minute class period; students will attend their regular schedule of classes.
Congratulations to all of the young ladies who were elected by their classmates to represent Hillcrest as members of the 2017 Homecoming Court.
And, a very special congratulations goes to Amber Speegle, who was elected by her peers as the 2017 Homecoming Queen. Amber was crowned Friday night by last year’s queen, Madelyn Banks.
