Hillcrest Christian School’s Fine Arts Program uses classroom instruction and performance opportunities not only to promote students’ appreciation of the arts through the development and use of their talents, but above all, to glorify God. Through education in the arts, we positively impact every student K3 through grade 12.
Our instrumental music program introduces students to music by teaching music theory, music composition and music appreciation, leading to performances and competitions. This begins at the preschool and elementary levels, where students learn rhythm and movement and are introduced to a variety of musical instruments.
Our art programs offer instruction with a variety of media — drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, and crafts. Opportunities are provided to explore art through exhibits and competitions.
Elementary students are introduced to drama beginning at the preschool level by participating in chapel and assembly programs.
One Spirit One Sound Band
Our comprehensive band program starts in grade six with Beginner Band and offers marching and concert bands, as well as color guard, for grades 7 through 12. Students participate in several group and individual competitions each year. The One Spirit One Sound Band has earned 15 straight years of superior state ratings, and many graduating members go on to receive college band scholarships. Among our numerous awards, Hillcrest Christian received top honors for both 2014 and 2015 at the Copiah Marching Festival.
Watch their performance from their 2015-16 show “Reflections,” which earned numerous superior awards at various competitions.
