Homecoming News

Homecoming will take place the last week of September, the 26th through the 30th, with a half-day of school/early dismissal on Friday, the day of the Homecoming parade, game, and dances.

Dress-up days for the Upper School and Lower School are as follows:
Monday – Super Hero Day
Tuesday – College/Sports Fan Day
Wednesday – Patriots’ Day
Thursday – Disney Day
Friday – Spirit Day (wear HoCo t-shirt and school colors)

Class Competitions:
Each day there will be games during activity period which will allow the Upper School classes to compete for points and prizes.  At the end of the week, points are tallied from the winners of the dress-up days, games, and float competition; first, second and third place will be awarded, with first and second place winners receiving prizes.

Floats:
This year, Hillcrest is taking a more traditional approach to Homecoming, reminiscent of “the good old days.”  Each group is going to use the chicken wire and tissue paper construction method, as the theme for the week is “A Classic Homecoming.”  Classes also have been combined to make the float-building process more cooperative and fun.  Seniors and freshmen will work together (“Wreck the Rebels”); juniors and 8th grade will partner (“Roast the Rebels”); and sophomores and 7th grade will join forces (“Rock the Rebels”).  These groups are responsible for designing, constructing, and decorating their floats outside of and after school hours.  Student Council members are responsible for coordinating work days and times; please contact them for more information, but it will also be posted in various places throughout the school as it becomes available.

Class Presidents:
12th – Spurgeon Sanders
11th – Amber Speegle
10th – Kaylyn Turner
9th – Abigail Browning
8th – Beth Hammill
* 7th grade does not elect class officers
