Christian Leaders of the Future

Sponsored by Mississippi Christian Living and Belhaven University

The application process requires the thoughtful response to seven key questions about the student’s Christian faith and practice.  Students will be judged on the content as well as the quality of their writing.

Response should be typed in a 12-point Times New Roman font.  It should be emailed as a Word document attachment.

Two Christian Leaders will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his or her choice. The student application and all instructions are available at under the Christian Leader tab.

The deadline for entry is the first week of December

Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) Admissions are based on academic achievement, service, educational experiences, and passion for teaching.  Competitive applicants are expected to have a minimum ACT score of 28 or SAT score of 1250, and a minimum high school GPA of 3.5. Scholarship includes tuition, books and fees for up to four years.  METP scholars also receive room and board, technology, study abroad, professional development, cross-campus learning. KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program

The REACH Educational Grant Program® helps employees at participating KFC U.S. restaurants pursue their dreams of going to college. Employees of any age, any position, pursuing any degree can receive money to help them attend the accredited four-year or two-year college of their choice. The money can also be used at trade/vocational schools and for graduate study.

KFC Restaurant General Managers, Assistant Managers, Shift Supervisors and Team Members may apply for college tuition assistance funds. Managers who are selected will receive $3,000 for the academic year; previous REACH Grant recipients receive $2,500 and first-time winners receive $2,000. Employee-students can reapply for the money each year.

MAIS (Mississippi Association of Independent Schools) ACT Scholarships

MAIS presents select graduating seniors who are enrolled in MAIS member schools academic excellence scholarships based on ACT scores. To be eligible for this award, students must have been enrolled in their school for at least the first semester of their senior year, and must have a minimum composite score of 30.

Schools are responsible to submit a copy of eligible students’ ACT Student Profile Reports embossed with the school seal to the MAIS office. Reports must be postmarked by April 15 of the current year.

In the event of a tie, the highest scores of the sub-tests will determine the winner. If review of sub-test scores also results in a tie, other methods will be used to determine the winner.

Hinds Community College Foundation Scholarships
Deadline for all HCC scholarships – March 1
One of the most abundant sources of scholarships offered to students involved in extracurricular activities and desire for achievement, show excellence in the classroom, and have for financial assistance.  Students who do not have at least a 2.0 GPA will not be considered for Foundation Scholarships.
Requirements: Hinds CC application + Scholarship application + Transcript that shows minimum 2.0 GPA w/ACT scores + 3 letters of recommendation.
Students MUST use the recommendation form and the application on the website.
